if today was my last day alive...
If today was my last day alive
I'd be glad that I admired the shadows on the beach the clouds make as they pass overhead
I'd not regret that ginger and molasses cookie I ate after lunch
I'd not regret saving the bee from the store front window.
I'd smile that I wore a skirt with flip flops and my hair long with bare skin and bare lashes, and no underwear
If today were my last day alive
I'd miss that warm embrace of my friend from earlier today but be glad I hugged him both coming and going and told him what a difference he'd made in my life
I’d hope I get to take with me to the other side, my memory of the three shades of blue I'd only just noticed today...
One silvery blue, the reflection of the sky in the water
Two the blue at the horizon of the earth and clouds
Three the color of the wide open sky above the clouds
I can find no words to describe my new awareness of both heaven and earth
If today was my last day in this body
I'd be glad I learned to love life before it ended
And if I live beyond this moment I will cherish each day as if I'd been born every morning awake with new eyes
And a greater capacity to hug
And a great capacity to love
As if I'd been given a second chance, or brought back from the dead
A Journey into the Miracle of Your Awakened Awareness
Opening to the Ultimate Possibility: Spiritual awakening opens the door to a truly unimaginable possibility. The potential of living a deeply awakened life is so magnificent and so far beyond most of what we see in the world that even when we taste it for ourselves, we often find it hard to accept that life could be this extraordinary.
In order to make room in ourselves for the miraculous to take root, most of us need to uncover, examine and ultimately leave behind a deeply rooted fundamental insistence on a life of limitation.
This deeply rooted and often unconscious cultural cynicism infects even the most dedicated spiritual seekers and subtly holds us back from taking the leap of trust required to embrace the inherent perfection of our true nature.
